Welcome to Cherry Class
We are a lovely group of 30, hardworking Year 4 children. Our Class Teacher is Miss Butler and our Teaching Assistant is called Mrs Johnson.
We have an exciting term ahead of us. On our return to school in September, we boarded the Caistor Airline plane and arrived in ancient Egypt. When we arrived, we discovered a few changes had been made to our classroom. Please take a look at our classroom pictures to have a peak at our new learning environment. Our favourite part is the relaxing reading tent.
Autumn Term 2017
English and theme work
This term our project will be a pop up Egyptian museum hosted in our classroom for the other KS2 classes. All of our learning and research will be based around producing informative published museum guides. We will be using lots of different features of non-fiction writing to organise our guides so that they are presented clearly for our museum visitors. This guide will also bring in all of our art, geography, computing and history learning over the term. As developing Year 4 writers, we will also work hard to improve our editing and proofreading skills to produce an excellent information guide full of Year 4 grammar features.
This term we are going to be working hard to secure our number and place value knowledge. We will be developing our fluency, reasoning and problem solving skills with four digit numbers and using different apparatus to do this.
This term our P.E. topics are tennis (outdoor) and dance (indoor). Please make sure children have their full P.E. kits in school every day, as PE sessions are occasionally subject to change.
It is expected that children read at least three times a week at home. In addition to this, they will be expected to complete a 'reading mission' per week to encourage reading for pleasure at home. Reading missions will be checked every Monday in school.
Children will also be expected to consolidate their weekly maths skills on IXL to consolidate their learning in class.
Every term children will be set a topic based project to engage them with our new topic and inspire them to learn more outside of the classroom.
