Our PE Vision

"For all children in Caistor C of E and Methodist Primary School to experience excellent physical education, school sport and physical activity that will lead to life-long participation."

Caistor Primary are proud to have been awarded the Silver Sportsmark for 2016.

Caistor Church of England and Methodist Primary School has always provided a wide variety of sports either during lessons or as extra-curricular activities. All pupils have a minimum of two hours of curriculum PE a week. Our teaching staff are highly trained and regularly undertake high quality training, working alongside specialist PE coaches. Pupils from Year 1 upwards experience a wide variety of games and sporting activities including tennis, tag rugby, hockey, orienteering, football, athletics, multi-skills, kwik- cricket, netball, dance, gymnastics, martial arts and rounders. Our school works with The School Sports Partnership to give pupils the opportunity to attend sports festivals to enable them to develop their skills through specialised training and by competing against pupils from other schools. Those pupils who exhibit a talent at these festivals are encouraged to attend local sports clubs where they can be offered the opportunity to play for the junior section of a local club or a county team.

What is the sports premium grant?

The government has provided funding for the last 3 academic years to help schools improve the quality of sport and PE for all their children.

How much is the Sports Premium Grant?

The premium must be used to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils, in the 2016 to 2017 academic year, to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.  Caistor Primary will receive £8000 plus £5 per pupil. This is a total of £9,320.

It is expected that schools will see an improvement against the following 5 key indicators:

  1. The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – kick-starting healthy active lifestyles.
  2. The profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement.
  3. Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport.
  4. Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.
  5. Increased participation in competitive sport.
