We are proud to share that our KS1 SEND Hub (Olive SEND Hub) is now open. This provision has been developed to support pupils with additional needs through a nurturing, structured, and highly personalised environment.

We are also planning ahead, with the aim of opening our KS2 SEND Hub in September 2026, further extending our specialist provision across the school.

Belonging

At the heart of our SEND provision is a strong commitment to belonging.

Children within the Hub are supported to develop a secure sense of belonging not only within the Olive SEND Hub itself, but as valued members of the wider school community. We actively create opportunities for pupils to feel connected, included, and recognised across all areas of school life.

Equally, we promote a whole-school understanding that the Hub is an integral part of our mainstream setting. All pupils are encouraged to see the Hub as part of our shared community, fostering respect, inclusion, and positive relationships.

This ethos ensures that every child feels seen, supported, and part of our school.

Ongoing Development

To ensure our Hub provides the best possible environment for our pupils, building work will be taking place to:

• Enhance and update the indoor learning space

• Develop a dedicated outdoor provision to support sensory and practical learning

We appreciate your patience and support as we continue to improve our facilities.

Staffing

Both SEND Hubs are overseen by our Hubs' SENDCo and Lead, Mrs Everett, who works closely with staff, pupils, and families.

Within the KS1 Olive SEND Hub, our team includes:

• Miss Flint – Class Teacher

• Mrs Chester – Teaching Assistant

• Mr Evans – Teaching Assistant

Our experienced team is committed to providing high-quality, tailored support for every child.

Curriculum Approach

We have developed a curriculum that:

• Focuses on foundational skills such as communication, independence, and emotional regulation

• Supports the individual needs of each pupil

• Provides a balance of structured learning and personalised interventions

Our approach ensures that all pupils are supported to make meaningful progress in a way that works best for them.

Admissions to the Hub

Places within the SEND Hub are not automatically allocated to pupils attending our mainstream school.

Instead, places are:

• Allocated through an application process

• Reviewed during a panel meeting with the Local Authority and final decision made

This ensures that placements are appropriate and meet the specific needs of each child.

Transitional Support

Each Hub includes three transitional places, which are available for pupils from mainstream classes.

These places:

• Can be accessed at any time

• Provide short-term, targeted support

• Help meet individual needs without requiring a full Hub placement
